Zillertal Alps Nature Park with a great programme of walks
It takes 7 days to walk through this breathtaking and unspoilt mountain landscape that covers an area of 379 km2. The Zillertal Alps Nature Park - in the upper part of the Ziller Valley - has been a conservation area since 1991. In 2001 the area was awarded the internationally recognised "Nature Park" conservation status.
The Nature Park extends over 1,000 m in Ginzling up to an altitude of 3,509 m on Hochfeiler. The Nature Park offers all guests of its member organisations a large range of opportunities for hiking and excursions. The Lama Trekking tours' are fun for young and old alike, for kids there are special days in the forest, Alpine meadow family events, the Visitor Dairy Farm, herbal walks, nature photography for children (8 - 12 years), animal watching in the forest and lots more. The Bergkristall Hotel's membership means that all events are available to you as a guest free of charge.
Through cooperation between the various tourist organisations and local communities in the Upper Zillertal, the aim of the Zillertal Alps Nature Park is to let people experience nature, whilst at the same time practising conservation.
An Extensive Network of Trails
The Zillertal Mountains are waiting to be discovered! Or why not enjoy the fresh mountain air in the Zillertal Alps Nature Park. The area for hiking stretches from the farmed valley bottom up to the treeline, Alpine meadows and the higher regions of the Zillertal glaciers.
A Special Tip
The 'Zillertaler Runde' circuit, also known as the 'Berliner Höhenweg': The route goes through the heart of the Zillertal Alps Nature Park and offers amazing views of the Alpine glaciers.
In order to increase awareness of nature in Zillertal, and to better illustrate the work of the Zillertal Alps Nature Park, there are three Nature Park permanent exhibitions: Glacier.Wolds at the Nature Park Centre in Ginzling, Culture.Land(schafts).Worlds at Mitterstall in Brandberg and Ibex.Worlds in Zillergrund.
