Zillertaler Höhenstraße

For cyclists, the 'Zillertaler Höhenstraße' high-altitude route is both one of the best Alpine roads in Austria and a real challenge. A 70-km asphalted mountain road with an altitude difference of 1,800 metres that will take you by car or bicycle up to an altitude of 2,020 metres. There are four access points, the most southerly begins in Hippach between Mayrhofen and Zell am Ziller. From the top you have a fantastic 360° panoramic views of the Inn Valley as far as the glaciated summits of the Zillertal Alps. There are places for snacks and mountain lodges, where you can break your journey for refreshments and take in the views.

Himmelfahrt & Höllenritt

Since summer 2009, there are two new freeride trails known as "Himmelfahrt & Höllenritt" on the 'Penken' mountain. Both trails have been designed with different and challenging "northshore" elements, which also demand good physical fitness. Jumps, steep curves and wave runs are just some of the obstacles to be mastered. Höllenritt requires skill and courage.
